In the year 1999 the Gridiron Club was formed by a group of parents who wanted to support the new football program. Without the help of our members and volunteers we would not be able to provide the benefits our children deserve. New members and ideas are always welcomed. Listed below are accomplishments and traditions provided by Gridiron.
Financially support the football program through financial gifts to the team. This helps the coaching staff obtain training tools not possible though the school budget. We donate to all graduating players their game jerseys. We also provide food, drinks or whatever we can do to make their football experience at Sandwich High School memorable.
Supporting the student-athletes by increasing game attendance. The Gridiron Club for the past two years has donated lights so that Friday night games could be played at Sandwich High School. We also, in conjunction with the high school helped organize the Homecoming parade’s during the Homecoming game.
Sponsor annual events like the Spaghetti Dinner held on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. This dinner is open to coaches, cheerleaders and all players current and past.
The Awards Dinner; the Gridiron Club sponsors the dinner and invites all players, coaches and the parents of graduating seniors free of charge.
Two awards, Scholar Athlete and the 110% award are given out annually.
These are just a few traditions that Sandwich-Gridiron Inc., provides for your football program, and none of it would be possible with out your help. So, on behalf of the coaches, players, and of course, Sandwich-Gridiron Inc, thank you!
Sincerely,
Sandwich Gridiron Executive Board
